HAPPY BIRTHDAY, FUSE!
We all consider ourselves very fortunate to be part of Fuse Literary, and one of the ways we celebrate our agencyversary every March is by giving back to those in need. Last year we did the #MS4MS charity auction (with over $3,000 donated to multiple sclerosis research!), and the year before we released THE BURDEN OF LIGHT as a pay-what-you-want multimedia anthology with all of the proceeds going to colon cancer research.
Since we’ve recently focused on two physical issues, this year, we’d like to do what we can to help those with mental illness. In America, roughly 1 in 5 adults—that’s 43.8 million people—experience mental illness in a given year, whether it’s a depressive episode, PTSD, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, etc. 21% of teenagers and 13% of young children are also affected. You can learn more about it here.
This year, the Fuse Literary agents will be auctioning off critiques with 100% of the proceeds going to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for those affected by mental illness. The auctions will continue through the month of March, and each Fuse agent will be evaluating based on their specialty (Trish for Romance, Connor for Sci-Fi, etc).
Auctions? Yes! There will be more than one! In fact, we’ll be holding new auctions every week this month, so keep an eye on our Twitter feed @FuseLiterary, the hashtag #MS4MI, and our auction site: https://www.winningcause.org/fuseliterary. But act fast, because each item is only available for that week! This week, we’re auctioning off query evaluations, and you have until 11:59 PM Saturday night to bid before those close and new items appear.
Good luck, bidders! And thank you for helping improve the lives of people with mental illness.
