About Matt Faulkner
Award-winning children’s book author and illustrator Matt Faulkner graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design. With over 40 illustrated books to his credit, Matt enjoys working on projects both historical and fantastical in nature. His graphic novel, Gaijin: American Prisoner of War (Disney/Hyperion) won the American Library Association’s Asian/Pacific Award. His recent works have included illustrations for Ruby Shamir’s What’s The Big Deal About picture book series (Philomel) covering the First Ladies, Freedom, Elections and Americans in separate volumes. Matt has taught illustration and character design courses at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit and the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. He is married to author and children’s librarian, Kristen Remenar. They worked together to create the delightful picture books Groundhog’s Dilemma and Squirrel Needs a Break (Charlesbridge). They live with their family in the lower right hand corner of Michigan.
