Award-winning writer Allison Alsup lives in New Orleans. She currently writes about cocktails and bars for The New Orleans Advocate and is a regular contributor to Edible New Orleans. Her profile of New Orleans chef Leah Chase appeared in Best Food Writing 2015 (DaCapo Press). She is also the co-author of The French Quarter Drinking Companion, a narrative guide to one hundred bars in America’s most eclectic neighborhood, now in its second edition (Pelican Publishing).
Allison holds an M.F.A in Creative Writing from Emerson College and produces literary fiction. Several of her short stories have won national contests, including a 2014 O. Henry Prize. Among other journals, her work has appeared in The New Orleans Review, The Madison Review, River Styx, Salamander, and The New Guard as well as The Best of Philadelphia Stories, 10th Anniversary Edition. She teaches fiction workshops through the Loyola Writing Institute.
