Bill Corbett is a founding writer and performer for the comedy group RiffTrax, and before that a wirter/actor for the cult TV series Mystery Science Theater 3000 as the wisecracking robot Crow and the pompous alien Observer (aka “Brain Guy”).
Corbett is also a playwright, screenwriter and voice actor. Corbett’s screenplay Starship Dave, co-written with Rob Greenberg, was made into the movie Meet Dave starring Eddie Murphy, released by 20th Century Fox. His plays have been produced internationally. Corbett’s comedy The Big Slam has been produced at numerous theaters across the U.S. Other plays include Hate Mail, The Stuff of Dreams, and his comic book holiday mashup Super-Powered Revenge Christmas.
He has been a contributing writer to public radio’s All Things Considered, A Prairie Home Companion, and Wits. He co-created the animated webseries Poker Night for Icebox.com. He currently hosts the podcast Bill Corbett’s Funhouse. His voice work includes characters on Adult Swim’s Tigtone and numerous other cartoons.
Corbett has also been a resident actor at the Guthrie Theater and the Berkshire Theater Festival, and has taught writing at Kenyon College, the Guthrie Theater, the Playwrights Center in Minneapolis and elsewhere.
A native of Brooklyn, he now lives in Minneapolis with his wife Virginia, their two children and two dogs.
