Rachel Mans McKenny is a writer of contemporary upmarket fiction living in the Midwest. Her short fiction, essays, and humor have been published in The New York Times, The Washington Post, McSweeney’s, Electric Literature, Hobart, Elle, InStyle and other outlets.
Her debut novel, The Butterfly Effect, was published in December 2020 by Alcove Press and distributed by Penguin Random House. The Butterfly Effect has been praised as “delightfully off-kilter” (Rachel Yoder, Nightbitch) and “a warm, winning debut from a talented new Midwestern voice” (J. In her personal life, Rachel enjoys reading anything and everything, tweeting too much, playing with her kids, and doing karaoke any chance she has (her songs are “Bitch” by Meredith Brooks or anything Alanis).
