Sara Winokur is a PhD genetic researcher at the University of California who helped discover the genes for Huntington’s disease, muscular dystrophy and dwarfism. Her work is published in many scientific journals. Although genetics might tell her otherwise, Sara is convinced she must have some Icelandic blood coursing through her veins. Having travelled through more than sixty countries and every continent, nowhere has she felt more at home than in Iceland.
Sara’s debut novel, Where the Sky Meets the Sea, blends her expertise in genetics with her affinity for the rich literary culture and surreal landscapes of Iceland. She currently lives with her family and writes in Southern California.
