  • Sixteen books penned by Ray Bradbury will soon be available in ebook format. 
  • Seventeen-year-old author, Beth Reekles, talks about her seven figure, three book deal with Random House on the Today Show.

 

Digital Publishing News and New Technology:

  • Barnes and Noble upgrades its self-publishing platform, replacing PubIt! with a platform known as NOOK Press.
  • LinkedIn acquires social reading site, Pulse, as they work toward the goal of becoming a “Professional Publishing Platform”.
  • A new online writing community, Typetrigger, offers daily writing prompts to writers, and the ability to publish responses.
  • PressBooks, a self-publishing design tool, partners with BookBaby to help self-publishers more easily distribute ebooks.

  • Author Abbi Glines places in six spots on Galleycat’s weekly Self-Published Bestsellers List.
  • J. R. Ward tops the New York Times Bestseller List with Lover at Last, the 11th novel in her Black Dagger Brotherhood series.

 

Book to Screen:

  • CBS releases a teaser-trailer for the adaptation of Stephen King’s “Under the Dome”.
  • The Crossfire series, written by Sylvia Day, has been optioned for television.

  • Bestselling author Dave Farland raises funds to help pay medical bills, after his son suffered a traumatic brain injury. 
  • The Line Assembly uses Kickstarter to help fund a tour that will promote the art of poetry and provide resources to libraries and literary community groups.

  • Jen Karsbaek signs with Kerry Lonsdale, writer of women’s fiction and Founding Vice President of Programs and website developer for the Women’s Fiction Writers Association.
  • Tanya Chernov, her editor, Julie Matysik, and her agent, Gordon Warnock, unpack the traditional publishing process through the inspiring story of how A Real Emotional Girl came to be. Sunday at 9 AM at Writers’ Institute.
  • Prophecy Girl, written by Cecily White released this Tuesday.
