I am beyond excited to welcome Black speculative fiction author Tonja K. Johnson as a new client of mine at Fuse Literary!
Her work honors the rich, diverse culture of her ancestors, while also representing Blackness in all its resistance, queerness, and neurodivergence.
She won the 2024 MN BIPoC Emerging Writer Award in fiction and the 2023 MN Write Like Us grant. She’s the acquiring editor at FIYAH, a first reader at OTHERSIDE, a Go Back & Fetch It fellow, and a Tin House ’26 alum. Her fiction can be found or forthcoming at tordotcom, Blue Earth Review, Midnight & Indigo, FIYAH Literary Magazine, PseudoPod, and other fine publications.
When she’s not writing, she’s usually reading, drawing, and spending precious time with loved ones.
Her novel, Dark Star will be out in December, with the audiobook from Simon & Schuster’s Simon Maverick imprint.
