Fall is in the air, and I have so many client books pubbing in the next few months that my head is spinning. Today Heather Hiestand is up with the fourth in her Redcakes historical romance series, the novella The Kidnapped Bride for only $1.99. It’s got amazing baked goods. It’s got fabulous & fun romance. Rakes and cakes. What more do you need? How about the first book in the series, The Marquess of Cake, FREE for today only. Try out this series. It’s delicious. You’ll soon be addicted. Thank goodness it’s zero calories!
Then tomorrow it’s a stupendously creepy middle-grade novel from an astounding debut talent: Eldritch Black’s The Book of Kindly Deaths. Think of it as a cross between Neil Gaiman’s Coraline and Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events. It’s genuinely scary and I know kids are going to eat it up (ooh, another delicious treat!) I predict a lot of reading by flashlight under the covers on this one. If you know an adventurous middle schooler who enjoys the chills and thrills of a monster tale that is both original and well-written, pick this one up. Surprisingly spooky.
