We’re thrilled to announce that Fen Yik has signed as client of Ernie Chiara at Fuse Literary. Fen Yik is a writer of YA and Adult Fantasy and a practitioner of the Wing Chun system of kung fu. A computational linguist based in Boston, MA, Fen is an expert in the field of historical linguistics.
Fen Yik’s Young Adult Fantasy, BENEVOLENT FIST, features positive Chinese American diaspora representation, where high school martial arts students from New York are plunged into a centuries-old war between magical kung fu schools.
On his inspiration for writing this story, Fen shares, “Growing up Asian in North America, I loved martial arts because they were something from my heritage that fascinated my friends regardless of their cultural background. I also loved to read, but I had a hard time finding martial arts-themed stories with realistic Asian protagonists I could relate to. BENEVOLENT FIST is the story I wish I’d been able to find.”
