On her inspiration for writing this story, Katharine shares, “As a kid, we travelled a lot, moving schools and countries, leaving behind friends and meeting new ones. My brother and books were my constant; the characters in them my oldest companions. Tonight, I Burn grew from summers spent on the deck of a boat buried in the Secret Garden, Greek mythology, and Grimm’s fairy tales. Penny longs for her roots, is fiercely protective of her sister, and finds solace in stories in a dark and broken world.”
