Is writing overwhelming you? Querying driving you mad? Is the lingering summer heat making you want to flip a table?
Well, here’s something to cheer you up: If you’ve written a mystery, thriller, or suspense novel that hasn’t yet been published, this is for you. (And if you haven’t, just enjoy the handsome Alan Rickman above.)
I’m excited to be judging a contest via Writer’s Digest, on the heels of their fantastic conference and Pitch Slam event. It’s called Dear Lucky Agent and you can find more details here: http://www.writersdigest.com/editor-blogs/guide-to-literary-agents/18th-free-dear-lucky-agent-contest-thriller-mystery-suspense. Please read all the rules closely so that your entry is valid.
WHAT IS ELIGIBLE?
1. Completed adult thriller novels.
2. Completed adult mystery novels.
3. Completed adult suspense books.
Please note that these are all adult genre categories. So if your book is fundamentally a romance or sci-fi or literary fiction but happens to have some thrills in it, it would not qualify for this contest. Sorry.
Please note that YA fiction is not eligible for this (i.e., no teen/kid protagonists).
You have until September 17–next Thursday–to enter. Three winners will get free loot from Writers Digest and a critique of their first five pages from me. And the contest is FREE. You can’t beat that, can you? Good luck!
